…aimless…

Please Know This

November 19th, 2005 · 3 Comments · General

My baby turns one today. And although he’s only been with me for just shy of six months, I want to celebrate this day mostly because I wasn’t there when he was born. He is an amazing little bundle of laughter and joy. He eats well, sleeps well and doesn’t let too many things get to him. His favorite things to do are throw a ball, pet the cat, and tickle his brother’s feet.

But please know this…

We are going to the Pacific Ocean today so he can let sand sift through his fingers, get his pants wet from the surf, and be as close to you as he can on this day. We’ll pray for you as I have all week, for your grief, your grace, your gift.

Because of you, he has a father who makes him laugh just by looking at him and a mother who stops to breathe him in. Probably the best gift he’s received in the past year is his older brother, someone he already knows will protect him, laugh with him, and live this life with him.

I cannot imagine your pain, as I have received only joy. But please know this. He gets about 1000 kisses everyday.

Some of them are from you.

OK, I’m sitting here with tears running down my face. I think I’ll have to save this post for my future baby. Thanks Amy.

We just sent off our adoption papers last week. I guess I’ve only been thinking of (and praying for) the child who will one day be ours. Thanks for the reminder to pray for the ones he’s leaving behind.

This is your new sister-in-law, Mary. I am all teary-eyed after reading this post. You have been blessed with such a wonderful gift, and you are a wonderful gift back! God bless all of you!
