Hung 10

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

I don’t really have much of a life “to do” list, but I had dreamed of surfing a wave at least once. Mission accomplished. On Doheney Beach in Dana Point, CA yesterday I caught my first wave. I was on a board buoyant enough to support a grey whale – 9 foot foam long board. It was an amazing feeling.

The not so good news, I learned I have very sensitive feet. Walking to the beach in bare feet on black top, I noticed my feet felt a little warm. Ends up I got huge heat blisters on both of my feet. Believe it or not, it’s very painful when you try to walk on blistered feet. Note to self: invest in flip flops.

DOE vs. Dogs

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I don’t really have any agenda in putting forth this statistic, I just thought it was interesting. I was watching the news recently and heard that last year, Americans spent close to $40 Billion on dog care and related products.

I then scratched my head, with my hand, not my foot, when I compared that to the appropriation in the President’s Budget for Higher Education (Department of Ed) for FY 2007 – $54.4 Billion dollars.

I can’t think of a funny joke relating this stat to dog years, so if you think of one, feel free to comment.

Also, most people probably could not name the Secretary of Education, but her name is very appropriate for the job. The Secretary is none other than Margaret Spellings.

I have been wondering when solar power would go mobile, now it has. This is a cool product for a very reasonable price. Check out Solio.
