Sunday I joined a Street Art and Graffiti tour that was part of bike month events in NYC. The photobloggers from BlueJake and Satan’s Laundromat lead the tour and did an exceptional job of leading a three-borough tour. We started at Union Square and headed to Chelsea, wound our way through most of southern Manhattan, crossed into Brooklyn, headed up to Williamsburg, and finished at the famous 5 Points in Queens. All total, it ended up being about 20 miles. Here’s some stuff that caught my eye.
Old School Roller Steeze.
Wood, painted and then glued on.
Space Invader tile tag. I guess some guy in France started this. You order it by mail, and then tag as you like. Don’t know if super strength glue is included or not. The tag is made up of many small tiles.
Art made on paper, then glued up.
Inspiration for Apple’s Operating System?
Street post turned into metal sculpture.
5 Points, a must see, just take the 7 from Manhattan and look south after crossing the water.
My personal favorite tag. I’ll be posting more on Orange Hat.
Gated community of art.
We encountered possibly the most threatening pot hole in all of NYC.
I guess this was the first year this tour had been done but they said they would like to repeat it next year. Mark your calendar’s now, it was a great trip.
